Women's Ministry
WMU
Women’s Missionary Union is all about missions. WMU seeks to teach about missions.
The six specific objectives are as follows:
Learning about missions….providing education to believers about missions. Teaching the biblical calling to missions for every Christian and how discipleship involvement is for all ages. Educating about other cultures and how God moves all around the world. Also, teaching missions for God right here in our community.
Supporting missions……Teaching to give to missions through time, talents and financial resources and how giving is a biblical teaching. Providing visible missions to our church so that others may be called into full-time missions work.
Praying for missions…..Teach believers to apply the power of prayer for the spread of the gospel. Praying for specific needs of missionaries, people groups and current social issues. Teaching individuals to develop and engage an active prayer life.
Engaging in mission action and witnessing……Providing opportunities for involvement in missions and allowing an individual to increase their understanding of missions. Helping the individuals to connect the “why” of missions with the “how.” We engage in missions such as local projects, adopting ministries, collecting supplies for missionaries, and working with the church to better connect the “why” with the “how.”
Participating in the work of the church and denomination…… Bringing new believers into a relationship with God supported by other believers is what missions is about. We seek to support our church and association in order for our community to be informed. We need a community of faith, so we encourage all people to be active in the church, to support the church/church staff in giving their time and resources.
Developing spiritually toward a mission lifestyle……Individuals develops a mission lifestyle. Through living a mission lifestyle individuals see needs others don’t see, sees opportunities to share the loved of Christ when others are afraid, develops compassion and boldness in his or her faith, and understands his or her part in the body of believers.
WMU has a new emphasis for 2014-2016 in which to help guide and challenge Christian believers to understand and become involved in the missions of God. The emphasis is ALL FOR YOU, Surrender, Sacrifice, and Serve. This watchword from Mark 8:31-38 (Mark 8:34) will be emphasized in order to lead Christ followers to give All for God.
